Riga is the capital of Latvia. It is internationally recognised for its cultural events and offers a wide range of sightseeing opportunities. The headquarters of RTU are situated near Old Riga, the historical and geographical centre of Riga, which is located on the right bank of the Daugava River. Old Riga comprises a fairly small interior fortification system area (built during the XIII-XVIII centuries), where unique middle-aged architectural monuments are concentrated.
